Your Development

EMA is a SQC/PD-certified organisation. We place much emphasis and effort into training our staff and developing them to their fullest potential.

A great deal of learning takes place informally at the workplace and on-the-job. We have established key structured training frameworks for new staff and existing staff to enhance their capability to perform their core functions as well as to provide continuous learning as part of staff development and growth. This learning process starts from your very first day of work and you will be brought through a series of training at different stages of your career with EMA. You will also be assigned a buddy to help you settle into your new work environment. In addition, you will receive constant guidance from your assigned mentor and supervisor.

As an EMA officer, you would take personal responsibility for your own professional and personal growth. An average of 80 training hours per staff per year is allotted for staff development. Under the structured training framework, you can identify functional training to develop your professional competencies as well as generic soft skills programmes to enhance your personal effectiveness.

Training is planned jointly with your supervisor based on the organisation’s objectives and your individual learning needs to ensure that your training is relevant so that you can derive maximum benefit. You will also be involved in projects and other development opportunities beyond your scope of work. With the right training, exposure and experience that you’ll gain at EMA, your possibilities are limitless.

Job Rotation

At EMA, each division is distinct and represents a critical aspect of our core business. To broaden your perspective and deepen your knowledge, opportunities for rotation within the organisation are available to help you grow in your career. Selected officers may have the opportunity to be seconded to agencies within the MTI FIREfly family, or to private sector companies to gain additional exposure.
